Dried Salmon
Salmon hung in the fall, freeze dry over the winter and are fed to the dogs all summer long.

Smoked Salmon Filets
Some filets are smoked whole, then vacuum sealed and stored for the winter.

Smoked Salmon Strips
A perfect musher’s treat for the trail.

Salmon Cookpot
Salmon are either hung to dry and cut into small frozen trail snacks for the dogs, or cooked as a meal with rice in a cook pot.

Morels
Wildfires are very common in Alaska’s long hot summers. Fireweed isn’t the only thing that follows fire and Alaskans rush to burn sites the following year to hunt and gather tasty morels.

Alpine Blueberry
Alaska is known for our berries. Blueberries, low-bush & high-bush cranberries, crow berries, raspberries, cloud berries and salmon berries are amongst our favorites.

Moose
One bull moose is enough to feed four people through the winter.

Racks of Ribs
Ribs and hooves of ungulates make perfect chew toys for the dogs, once they are cooked down to eliminate any parasites. They also keep the dogs teeth clean and tartar free!

Game
Most of our meat comes from moose, caribou, or Dall sheep rather than the grocery store. Hides we stretch and used to keep warm.

Willow Ptarmigan
Alaska's state bird, the Arctic Grouse, are small but delicious.

Spruce Grouse
A quick and easy target on our local trails.

Caribou
Caribou herds wander through the valleys of the numerous mountain ranges we explore.

Waste Not Want Not
Nothing is wasted when it comes to the game we hunt. By boiling down the bones and cartilage, we make a great bone broth for the dogs water, enriched with numerous vitamins and minerals.

Hauling Firewood
The wood used to heat our homes is hauled in by dog team.

Chores
After you haul the logs, you must next buck, split and stack the wood.
