Diversity on the Tundra

Northern Diversity [+] was created to increase the presence of marginalized communities (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Women) in the outdoors. Our aim is to make mushing & other outdoor recreational activities accessible by providing an affordable, inclusive & positive outdoor experience to share leadership skills, build confidence & orchestrate new inspiring relationships within our local communities. Through common growing pains immersed in our own personal outdoor guiding experiences, we recognize how Alaska’s wilderness can be intimidating with her rugged terrain & harsh elements. We hope to shatter this disenchantment through training, knowledge and respect.

Each Northern Diversity [+] session will be led by Mushing Co-op instructors from the BIPOC/LGBTQ+/Women’s community, as well as an occasional guest speaker and/or a Mushing Co-op partner. Learn more about our team here.

Our goal…

To break the misconception that we, BIPOC + LGBTQ+ + WOMEN, are inactive in the outdoor community. To ENCOURAGE people of all skill levels and all backgrounds to DARE TO GET OUTSIDE. To BELIEVE & SUPPORT our fellow adventurers in their monumental achievements in the outdoor industry. To create a more INCLUSIVE representation of the outdoor enthusiast.
